Move to Virginia they said. Mild winters they said. Ground seldom freezes they said. No substantial snowfall they said.
The Driveway February 17th
They lied. I want a refund. My yard has been hard frozen for weeks. The daily highs have been single digits. There’s 8 inches of “no substantial snowfall” in my yard as of February 17th. It all fell over night. At least its a very dry powder. It shovels easily.
Cats Watching Birds Through the Hoarfrost
The birds are scrambling for food, its all under the snow. I’ve got 3 suspended feeders, 2 suet cake feeders & seed spread out for the ground feeders. Plus cat kibbles & straw bedding areas for the neighborhood outdoor cats. My indoor kitties like the bird show.
Still More Snow February 21st
There’s 3 more inches of powder snow here since 8:30 AM. The roads here are nasty slick. At least I don’t need to drive 37 miles & work a 12.5 hour shift anymore.
Bunches of Hungry Birds February 21st
Now its snowing harder with sleet, wintery mix & freezing rain in the forecast. Bah. Humbug. Harumph. Phooey. Please send a good cheese to go with my wine. (It is very pretty though. ) :-)
